  1. What service does Better Bottoms provide?

Weekly, the Better Bottoms delivery van will pick up your dirty diapers and deliver clean, soft, 100 % cotton diapers to your doorstep. We professionally clean each diaper to the highest industry standards, leaving them bright, white and ready for your babies bottom.

  2. Is your diaper service really affordable?

Yes!  Cloth diapering is often less per diaper than top brand disposables.  In addition, babies in cloth potty train one year earlier, on average, than those in disposables, saving you even more!  Below is a breakdown of diapering costs, 2 1/2 years for babies in disposables and 2 years for babies in cloth.  These are national averages, although every baby is different and may potty train earlier or later than these averages.

  4. How many cloth diapers does my baby need?

Below is a chart of average weekly diapers by age. Keep in mind that these are averages and will vary from baby to baby.

    Newborns 80
    1 – 3 months 70
    3 – 6 months 60
    6 – 18 months 50
    18 – 24 months 40

  5. What size cloth diapers should I choose?

Below is a weight chart to help you determine what size your baby’s bottom will need.

    Newborn 4 – 9 lbs
    Small 9 – 16 lbs
    Medium 16 – 26 lbs
    Toddler 26 – 40 lbs

Because our pre-fold diapers are 100% cotton, shrinkage is normal and to be expected. It is common to find diapers in your order that vary slightly in size.

  6. How do I care for the cloth diapers?

When your baby poops, please dump the bulk into the toilet. And with that, you’re done! Put the diaper into the diaper pail and leave the dirty work to us!
We ask that you NEVER rinse, dunk or wash your cloth pre-folds at home, as you may damage or permanently stain the material.

If your baby is exclusively breastfed, there is no need to dump the poop into the toilet because their soft, unformed poop is easily removed during our sanitization and cleaning process. The same is true of any loose poop your baby may have during an illness or teething.

  7. What if I need more or less diapers delivered each week?

If you find that your baby is using fewer diapers each week, Congratulations! Your baby is growing and you’re one step closer to potty training! Great Job! In this case, simply contact us 2 days before your scheduled delivery day to change your order.

The same is true if you find that you are running out of diapers. Simply contact us 2 days before you’re scheduled delivery day to change your order.

  8. What do I do with my diapers when I’m away from home or running errands?

With your startup kit, you will receive a small water-proof bag for outings. When you return home, dump the poop in the toilet if necessary, then put the diaper in your pail. Wash your outing bag as needed. If you feel you need more than one, we have them available for sale in a variety of colors.

  9. Can I use diaper rash creams on my babies Bottom with cloth diapers?

It has been found that creams containing cod liver oil or other fish oil will permanently stain or damage our cotton pre-folds, so steer clear of those. Other products are fine.

  10. What does your service cost?

We offer a 15% discount for twins or 2 children in your home in diapers and a 20% discount for triplets.

We also offer a 10% discount for those who purchase 3 or more months of service at a time.

  11. How many diaper covers do I need?

The number of diaper covers you keep on hand really depends on how often you plan to wash. We recommend that for a newborn, you keep 7 – 10 on hand. For older babies, we recommend 5 – 7 diaper covers.

Fewer than 5 diaper covers may lead to excessive and unnecessary running of your washing machine. This is a waste of energy and can cause your water and electricity bills to increase.

  12. Should I rent or purchase diaper covers?

You can purchasing covers from us! We offer a variety of adorable patterns, colors and sizes. There are no delivery charges when you order our products, and they will be included with your next weekly delivery. Plus, we give our Better Bottoms customers 10% off their first purchase.

As for purchaing covers, we offer a variety of adorable patterns, colors and sizes. There are no delivery charges when you order our products, and they will be included with your next weekly delivery.

  13. How do I care for the diaper covers?

Diaper covers are to be washed at home by the parents. When washing your covers, use hot/warm water with a high water level. Don't soak them for more than 10 minutes. Always be sure to affix the tabs closed at every wash. If left open, they will catch on other items in your wash and may cause permanent damage. The tabs may also get full of lint and other materials if left open, causing them to no longer function as intended. As for soaps, you can use your regular detergents, but plain Tide or Charlie's Soap are BB favorites. Baby soaps such as Dreft will build residues and smells over time, so they are not ideal. *Always be sure to watch for rashes when trying new soaps. *Don't use bleach, fabric softeners or pure soaps on the covers, it can damage or discolor fabric.

  14. What part of the New Orleans Metro area is included in the delivery area?

Yes. Whether you have twins, triples, or multiple children in diapers at one time, we understand that it is costly for you. To help with the added expense, we offer 15% off your rental if you have 2 children in diapers and 20% off your rental if you have more than 2.

Please contact us 2 weeks in advance of your vacation to make arrangements. We allow for 2 “vacation week” credits each year. If you will be using cloth on your trip, we can make arrangements to supply you with the necessary items and instruct you on diaper care while you are away.

We also offer natural, eco-friendly disposable diapers and can deliver them to your home before your vacation. They can also be used for outings or in combination with cloth.

  26. What if my delivery day falls on a holiday?

We will notify you in advance of our altered delivery schedule in the event of an upcoming holiday.

  27. My diaper pail stinks, any suggestions?

If you notice a smell when you open your pail, sprinkle baking soda right on top of the dirty diapers, it does a great job and does not harm the diapers. You can also use a few drops of essential oils, such as lavendar.

Be sure to change the deodorant disk monthly; one is provided every 4 weeks with your order. Baking soda at the bottom of your pail will also help with the odor. And be sure to clean your diaper pail with soap and water from time-to-time.

  28. What do I do if the diaper covers are consistently dirty with every change?

This can mean a few things.
    (1) Your baby’s Bottom may be growing and in need of a size increase.
    (2) Using a Snappi® will fasten your cloth pre-fold better and prevent leaking.
    (3) Check your folds to ensure they are tight around the babies’ legs.
    (4) Make sure no material is sticking out of the diaper cover, this can cause leakage as well.

See your Cloth Diapering Manual for diaper folding techniques and tips.

You can also call our office, we are always available to help with any issues you may have.

  29. What do I do if my baby is soaking through diapers at night and naptime?

Soaking through diapers can be a sign that your baby’s bottom is growing and in need of a size increase in diapers or/and covers.

It can also mean that your baby is a heavy wetter during sleep. Doubling your diapers or using a diaper doubler at night and/or naptime will eliminate this problem. These can be added to your order 2 days in advance. Return them with your dirty diapers and we will wash and return them, fresh and clean with each order.

  30. How do I cancel my service?

Please contact us 3 days before your scheduled delivery day to cancel your service. The Better Bottoms van will be at your home, as scheduled, to pick up your rental items in your designated area. This includes all diapers on hand, diaper pail and pail liners. Assuming all rental items are returned undamaged, we will refund any balance due.
